Stage Fight Scotland presents this six-day intensive in Rapier & Cloak for stage & screen. A uniquely flamboyant weapon set, it combines deadliness with drip, as the cloak is used for both attack and defence. Seen in period classics like Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet as well as The Three Musketeers, you will wield sword and cloak simultaneously, as a true Renaissance duellist.

You will:

• Gain practical, hands-on experience putting performance into action with the Rapier & Cloak.

• Learn how to wield a flexible weapon in tandem with a sword. Learn how to manipulate the weapon safely and convincingly in a performance context, for both attack and defence, through a wide range of techniques and applications using consent-based and trauma-informed practice.

• Understand how to play characters who are driven to extremes; how movement, body language, voice and expression all affect a performance that requires life or death stakes…
