SWORD AND SHIELD
Stage Fight Scotland presents this six-week course in Sword & Shield for stage & screen. One of the oldest forms of mortal combat, from the ancient Greeks, through the Gladiatorial arena, to Viking holmgang and the Scottish battlefield, sword & shield is one of the most ubiquitous forms of violent storytelling. It offers a diverse array of ways to interpret these tools in motion as skilled fighters from different eras. As seen in Braveheart, Troy, Gladiator, 300, Vikings, The King, Outlaw King, and many more.
You will:
Gain practical, hands-on experience putting performance into action with sword and shield.
Learn how to manipulate the weapons safely and convincingly in a performance context, for both attack and defence, through a wide range of techniques and applications using consent-based and trauma-informed practice.
