About the Event

Whether you call it the longsword, the hand-and-a-half broadsword or the bastard sword, it's intense, it's challenging, or maybe you're just working too hard!  17 years of teaching this weapon has taught me that it's not about strength, or power, or size; it's about biomechanics and using your body efficiently to make the weapon work for you to its best effect and keep you working longer and with less effort.   You're also safer, less likely to injure yourself or your fighting partners and you'll look good because you can focus on acting the fight, instead of tiring yourself muscling the weapon to get the same effect.  Whether you're big or small, it'll help your performance.  Fight smart, not hard.

You'll have eight hours to learn how to make it a whole body experience; go through footwork - essential for balance; attacks with thrusts, cuts and slashes; parries - how to defend yourself and what happens if you forget to do so, hint - no-one gets hurt, and some cool moves.   Above all, we'll teach you safety and performance principles that you can apply to any other weapon system you take on; that way you stay safe, make your fight work for the camera or audience and you make yourself look good.

You must be 18 or over to take part.
